TRADE OBSERVATORY

Trade methodology and data boundaries

Understand reporter coverage, commodity categories and time periods before interpreting the map and trends.

Reporter scope and commodity coverage

Sum of 27 EU member reporters, including intra-EU trade. This is not total world trade.

HS 121190 and 130219 cover broad botanical categories. These values are not specific to ginkgo.

Totals and partner observations

WORLD is a separate total across global partners and must not be added to individual partners. The map shows identifiable countries and areas only; regional aggregates and unspecified partners are excluded, so map values need not sum to WORLD.

Currency, net mass and direction

Values are in euros (EUR), with net mass converted to kilograms (kg). Imports and exports are shown separately and must not be added as a market-size estimate. A member-country sum including intra-EU trade is not EU net external trade.

Incomplete coverage and missing values

Value and net mass count reporters separately, using actual non-missing observations out of 27. A partner can have lower coverage than the WORLD total. Missing is not zero and is not interpolated; trend lines break across missing months or years. Coverage changes can affect apparent trends without establishing changes in demand.

Original periods and rolling updates

The display maintains a rolling window of the latest 24 available monthly periods and 5 annual periods from published source data. Statistical periods retain their original year and month; retrieval time is separate. Publication delays and revisions can change availability. Annual values may differ from monthly sums.
